Ageing is something that happens to everyone, whether we like it or not.

When we age, we lose elastin & collagen in our skin and cosmetic injectables are an option to get back that youthful look.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers will add volume, balance and lift to areas of your face like lips and cheeks. This treatment is perfect for those wanting to correct asymmetry in the face, smooth out those deep skin creases or enhance features. Results are instant and the contents of the dermal filler are derived from a naturally occurring bodily substance.

We only use premium Swiss fillers which last from 9 months up to two years.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dermal fillers help to hydrate and strengthen your skin using ingredients like collagen and hyaluronic acid.

Typically, a local anaesthetic is used before your treatment to avoid discomfort from the injection. Once this is applied, the dermal filler is injected directly into your skin using a fine needle. You might feel a small prick as the needle enters your skin, but typically nothing more.

The depth of the injection will vary based on your age and skin. Typically, finer wrinkles that are surface level only will only need a very shallow injection. Deep wrinkles, common in older patients, require a slightly deeper injection to impact deeper layers of your skin.

There are a range of different dermal fillers available and they all aim to treat specific areas of the face and concerns related to that area. Dermal fillers can be used to treat concerns including:

  • Acne scarring
  • Double chins
  • Wrinkles, folds, lines and creases in most areas of the face including around the corners of the eyes
  • Vertical lines around the lips
  • Sunken cheeks and saggy skin

Most patients will feel a small amount of pressure followed by a slight prick as the needle enters the skin. Generally, this doesn’t hurt but some patients may find it uncomfortable.

During the injection itself, some patients have reported feeling a mild sting-like sensation. Most patients do not experience anything more than this.

A small number of patients sometimes experience mild soreness or swelling immediately after the injection is completed. This typically goes away quickly.

Dermal filler injections don’t usually require any recovery time and patients are typically able to go back to work or any other activities straight after leaving our office.

Just like after a dentist visit though, any local anaesthetic does take some time to wear off, so you may feel a little numb around the injection site until the anaesthetic wears off.

Dermal fillers can be of benefit to adults of all ages and yes, both men and women.

During your initial consultation, we will help you to identify if fillers are a good fit for you and which options are the most suitable for your skin and any skin conditions you are looking to treat.

Depending on the purpose of the injection and any current skin irritations or infections, you might need to wait until that has cleared up before undergoing treatment.
